Attention Parents!!!

Don’t feel disconnected from your children who are HoH or Deaf. Create an inclusive environment for your children both at home and their school. No one ever said parenting came easy. As a matter of fact there was no given manual. No surprise! It’s okay. The hardest part about Parenting a child with this disability is not understanding first hand what they are going through. Regardless of how many times you have visited the Audiologist and had another audio-gram completed. This still does not make the understanding any  more real than when your child is in school and you have to fight tooth and nail because the district would like to categorize your child. Ugh! … Don’t give up before you start. First of all find local resources that provide advocates. These advocates can accompany you during an IFSP or IEP. Secondly, make sure you are well versed in the laws that protect your child. These laws were established to provide your child with the best options for his/ her needs.
